As we draw near to the end of 2016, reflecting on the past year, it is amazing to see how many changes we have made for the better. We have significantly increased our value priced offerings by expanding both Co+op Deals and Co+op Basics offerings to better serve you, our Owners and Customers.
What's your favorite holiday? We love the ones that bring people together to enjoy great food, and we're heading into that season right now! To celebrate and kick off the holiday season, we're throwing you a party: The Co+op Holiday Extravaganza!
It's finally squash season, and we're happy to welcome you to it with a big sale on butternut squash! This sweet, nutty-tasting squash is an excellent source of vitamins A and C, fiber, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and iron!
We all have childhood memories of parents, teachers and others encouraging us to work together. A co-op is what "working together" looks like all grown up. From the outside, many co-ops look like any other business, since a co-op provides products and services like conventional businesses do. But it's what goes on behind the scenes that makes it different.
In July, the Co+op Board hired Sierra Hirtzel as our new General Manager. Sierra has valiantly served the Co+op as Interim General Manager since September of last year. Through her stalwart leadership, the Co+op pioneered new methods for purchasing budgets, marketing, and departmental tracking—which is exciting news in the grocery world!
As the summer draws to a close and fall approaches, school is back in session and the weather is cooling down, I frequently find myself thinking about family gatherings with lots and lots of good food. I absolutely love when temperatures are cool enough to really enjoy spending an afternoon making soups or casseroles, or roasting root vegetables! My favorite recipe (if you can call it that) for roasted root vegetables is super easy!
We live in a world where you can walk into a grocery store and buy most fruits and vegetables any time of year, regardless of season. Want a peach in December? It’ll be expensive and it won’t taste great, but you can find one. Because of this, we’ve gotten very used to buying out of season, mediocre-tasting fruits and vegetables.
What are you doing Saturday, August 6? If you didn't say "going to the Co+op Block Party," then you probably just don't know how great it's going to be! But don't worry, I'm here to give you the run-down.
Thank you all for casting your vote in the 2016 Board of Directors election!

Valarie Holliday has been ratified as the staff member on the Board. The by-law change was approved.
Mountain View Market is seeking a General Manager. MVM Co-op has been serving Las Cruces and southern New Mexico for over 40 years.
The General Manager is responsible for the success and continuing growth of the grocery. Qualified candidates will have a background in retail food store management, preparing and meeting operational budgets, creating and growing a strong management team, and engaging with the public and media.
Are you a Member-Owner? If so, you're invited to the 2016 Annual Member Meeting, where you can get up-to-date on the Co+op's performance over the last year, vote in new Board of Directors members, and cast your vote on proposed changes to the by-laws! (Oh, and eat cake! Can't forget the cake.)

On September 25th, the Board of Directors ended the Co-op’s employment agreement with General Manager Shahid Mustafa. The board is grateful to Shahid for his many years of service to the Co-op. He has been unsurpassed in his support of the Las Cruces community, and we wish him great success in his future endeavors.
The Ambassador Program is a volunteer opportunity open exclusively to MVM members, with goal of educating the community about our work, sharing the resources and inspiration that MVM has to offer, and expanding our membership. It is the joint brainchild of board members, staff, and members who are part of the board’s Member Owner Engagement Committee.
Have you ever heard the term "sustainable business" or "green business"? Actually, that's a term that can be used to describe the Co+op! Here are some of the thing we do here at Mountain View Market that make us a green business.
