Decisions, Decisions: The Results are in!

by the Mountain View Market Co+op Board of Directors

Election Results

Adding to this all but typical year for the the co+op, the board went through a significant change as three board positions opened when life and career changes took board members out of state.

In this year’s election, we had 5 open positions and seven board candidates, plus the employee board member seat. The three vacant board positions were filled by interim members Xochitl Torres (2017), Scott Kamen (2018), and Angelica Rubio (2016) who were ratified in our May board meeting, along with Valarie Holiday (2018) filling the employee seat.

The two positions left vacant by outgoing members, Carolyn Gressitt and Amanda Formica, were filled, thanks to your votes, by Dael Goodman (2019) and Lisa Pena (2019).

If you weren’t part of this year’s election process, make a note to participate next year! Every year, three positions cycle off providing you, and other co+op owners, the opportunity to bring in a fresh perspective. by either running or voting for those positions.

Along with the board member vote, the vote to change the by-laws to reflect a new annual member meeting date was approved. The annual member meeting will move from April to October effective 2017.

Survey Results

In conjunction with the annual member meeting, we also run a survey to help guide the co+op leadership. Although the board is not involved in the daily operations of the co+op, we think its important to hear your perspective on topics covered in the survey, especially those that affect the current and future direction of the co+op.

Dael Goodman reviewed the surveys and put together this quick look at the results in one of her first acts as a new board member:

  • Item selection: overwhelmingly satisfied
  • Product pricing: split satisfied/unsatisfied
  • Cleanliness: satisfied-very satisfied
  • Staff knowledge/helpfulness: satisfied-very satisfied
  • Staff friendliness: satisfied-very satisfied
  • Understanding of co+op ownership: mixed satisfied/unsatisfied

Our thanks to our member-owners for their votes, comments, and support in helping us all create a vibrant future.
