Straight From the Board: December
Dear Owners and Shoppers of Mountain View Market Cooperative,
On September 25th, the Board of Directors ended the Co-op’s employment agreement with General Manager Shahid Mustafa. The board is grateful to Shahid for his many years of service to the Co-op. He has been unsurpassed in his support of the Las Cruces community, and we wish him great success in his future endeavors.
Our executive succession plan provides for an orderly management transition. Our Store Manager, Sierra Hirtzel, has graciously agreed to serve as Interim General Manager. She has the full support of the Board and staff. We will start a national search for a new General Manager in early 2016.
We are confident that our management team has the skills necessary to keep the operations of the Co-op running smoothly during this time of change, and we appreciate their willingness to assume this additional responsibility on such short notice. We are very grateful for the contributions of the entire staff during this transition.
Additionally, we are taking advantage of the extensive management support that National Cooperative Grocers (NCG) provides to its member cooperatives. Their national experience and perspective will assist us in improving our business and implementing recommendations in response to our new competitive landscape. Tony White, an NCG Development Advisor, has been assigned to work directly with Sierra, providing both on-site and remote support.
Vital to our success is your continued support of Mountain View Market. Look for continued improvements to the store in the coming weeks and months. Together, we will ensure that Mountain View Market continues to grow and thrive for another forty years!
