D.I.Y. Mother's Day

Mother's Day is quickly approaching, on Sunday May 14th to be exact. This day is for honoring motherhood and honoring those that are like a mother to us. If you are struggling to find a gift, we have picked a couple of D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) recipes to surprise that special mom in your life.


All the recipes that we picked can be made with common items that you may already have in your kitchen. All of the ingredients can be found at the Co+op, with many of them available in bulk so you can get as much as you need to create these recipes for a D.I.Y. Mother's Day and check out our wide selection of jars and container, available in both glass and plastic. Once you've made these recipes you can customize your container with labels or decorative ribbon.

These recipes are also great to whip up any time you need to pamper yourself.

Sugar Lip Scrub


  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Coconut Oil
  • 1 tsp Honey
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract

Mix all ingredients in a clean bowl. once everything is mixed well, transfer it to a container of your choice. To use; grab a small amount of mixture and rub it all over your lips, rinse thoroughly. Your lips will instantly feel like new!

Charcoal Face Mask


  • 1 part Bentonite Clay
  • 1 part Baking Soda
  • 1 part Activated Charcoal

This mask can be made in any quantity. You can use one teaspoon of each ingredient or one cup of each- as long as they are equal parts it will work. Mix ingredients in a plastic bowl and use a plastic utensil to mix. Metal will deactivate the clay. Pour mix into a container of your choice. To use; pour about a tablespoon of the dry mixture into your hand and add several drops of water to make a paste. Apply the paste to your clean face and let it sit until the mask has dried. Wash the mask off and pat skin dry.

Sea Salt Scrub


  • 1 cup Fine Sea Salt
  • 1/2 cup Carrier Oil of your choice
  • 5-15 drops Essential Oil (optional)

This recipe is super simple and it works wonders for your skin! Simply mix all ingredients together and put it in the container of your choice. To make this salt scrub extra luxe, add in dried rose petal or lavender flowers. To use; dampen skin ad rub mixture over the body paying extra attention to rough patches. Rinse off and pat the skin dry. Oil or body lotion will not be necessary afterwards.
